10 Days Highlight Of Tanzania

Day 1:

Mount Meru Game Lodge, Usa River

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, after clearing customs and Immigration formalities you will be met and transferred to your Lodge. Driving away from the airport and out onto an open road with no city in sight…it feels like your safari has already begun.

Set 23 kilometres east of Arusha, Usa River is the capital of Tanzania’s Meru District and lies between the Ndurdoto Crater and Arusha National Park. Dotted with numerous eco-lodges and other accommodation options, the town provides an ideal base for exploring the magnificent surrounding natural landscapes. Visit the seven Momela Lakes to see vast swathes of pink flamingos, and look out for buffalos and waterbuck. The park offers an array of safari tours and the chance to see unique primates such as blue monkeys, albino baboons, and colobus monkeys (this is the only place in Tanzania’s northern safari circuit where they can be found). The spectacular Mount Meru is a fantastic achievement to climb and provides unparalleled vistas of Kilimanjaro. At Usa River’s Cultural Arts Centre, take part in drum-making and Tanzanian cooking classes or visit traditional Maasai and Meru bomas.

Overnight: Mount Meru Game Lodge

Set in beautiful and tranquil surroundings, the Mount Meru Game Lodge is nestled between the Usa river and the sanctuary. The sanctuary is home to water buffalo, birds and monkeys, including the elusive Colobus monkey. Conveniently located just 30 minutes from Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA), the lodge is an ideal starting point for your safari.

The lodge & sanctuary date back to 1959 when Dr. Von Nagy bought the property as a family home. The main building dates back to the 1930's and was originally the farm manager's house. In the first half of the 1900's most of the area on the southern slopes of Mount Meru were coffee plantations.

Dr. Von Nagy's was passionate about animals and he quickly turned his family home into an animal sanctuary and orphanage. He setup the Mount Meru Wildlife Reserve in order to protect the wildlife on Mount Meru, what is now part of Arusha National Park. He also helped the government to establish the Wildlife Collage and used his animal sanctuary and orphanage as a training facility for the students. His home and passion attracted visitors from far and wide, rooms were added to accommodate his visitors and the lodge was born.

Day 2:

Lake Burunge Tented Camp, Lake Burunge

This morning, wake to the views of Mt Meru before heading down to breakfast. After collecting your packed lunch, you will join your driver guide as you head to Tarangire National Park. On clearing the paperwork at the entrance, you will head into the park for a full day game drive.

As the afternoon begins to end, you will make your way out of the park and towards your camp. On arrival you will be assisted with check in and shown your tent.

Set within the ecologically important migratory corridor of Manyara and Tarangire, Lake Burunge-Manyara is one of three major lakes in Tanzania’s Manyara region that provide incredible game viewing opportunities. Lookout decks along the shore offer close-up encounters with the wild animals which come to drink or hunt, as well as with 300 bird species. Game drives, guided walks, canoeing, and cultural tours to the neighbouring Mbugwe and Maasai villages are just some of the activities visitors can look forward to. Neighbouring Tarangire National Park is another highlight of the area, only 30 kilometres away.

Overnight: Lake Burunge Tented Camp

Permanent luxury tents. Located only 10 minutes from Tarangire National Park, Lake Burunge Tented Camp consists of 30 rooms with en suite facilities. Among them 6 family tents, that consist in two interconnected rooms.

Nearest Airstrip: Tarangire/Manyara 1 hour and 20 minutes away. Activities: Game drives in Tarangire National Park, guided nature walks and / or visit a boma (village) to interact with the local Mbuwge people and learn about their culture.

Day 3:

Lake Burunge Tented Camp, Lake Burunge

Depart with lunch boxes for a full day game drive in Tarangire National Park. Evening return to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 4:

Bougainvillea Safari Lodge, Karatu

After breakfast and check out, depart to the Serengeti with a packed lunch. On arrival into the park, game drive towards your camp.

As the afternoon begins to end, you will make your way towards your camp. On arrival you will be assisted with check in and shown your tent.

Situated in the heart of Tanzania, the Central Serengeti encompasses the world-famous Seronera Valley which is known for its prime wildlife-viewing opportunities. This picture-perfect landscape is characterised by endless stretches of savannah-covered open plains interspersed by rocky outcrops of granite and scattered with acacia woodlands and covered in a network of rivers and streams. The Central Serengeti forms part of the great wildebeest and zebra migration and provides an ideal habitat for a variety of wildlife such as giraffe, impala, waterbuck, hippo, elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, hyena, jackal, serval and much more. Popular activities include: game viewing, cultural tours, horse riding safaris, and hot air ballooning over the spectacularly scenic terrain.

Overnight: Serengeti Kati Kati

FSerengeti Kati Kati is a mobile tented camp located in Central Serengeti, strategically located to cover the vast Serengeti Plains. The camp offers comfortable accommodation and a unique opportunity to enjoy a real safari camp experience, just a two-hour scenic drive from Olduvai Gorge Museum and Grumeti River.

Accommodation comprises 20 tents with en-suite facilities, with a cosy mess tent located in the centre of the camp where meals are served. The campfire is ready every evening for appetizers and snacks before dinner.

Serengeti National Park is one of the largest wildlife sanctuaries on the planet and the largest National Park in Tanzania, covering an extension of 15,000 square kilometres. Day 5:

Serengeti Kati Kati, Central Serengeti

Enjoy a full day, with morning and evening games drives in Serengeti National Park. Enjoy quiet evenings by the campfire and the exclusivity of absolute comfort combined with the authenticity of a night spent in the African bush, an extraordinary experience for all nature lovers.

Day 6:

Serengeti Kati Kati, Central Serengeti

This morning wake to the sounds of the African bush, and head out on an early morning game drive to catch the animals at their most active. On return to your camp, enjoy a typical safari breakfast surrounded by local wildlife. Later, on your afternoon game drive, the chances to spot Africa’s famous Big Five abound, thanks to the park’s density of both predators and prey.

Day 7:

Serengeti Kati Kati, Central Serengeti

As the sun rises on your fourth day in the Serengeti, make the most of the game viewing. Order a picnic breakfast or lunch and head out into the bush and spend the day looking for game while enjoying the magic that this park has to offer. Later back at camp dinner is served and evening drinks by the campfire is the perfect way to discuss the day’s events.

Day 8:

Ngorongoro Farmhouse, Karatu

After breakfast and check out - depart with a packed lunch and drive towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend down in the crater floor for a full day game drive, late afternoon departs from the park and drive to your lodge located in Karatu area for dinner and overnight.

Travellers heading for the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater will pass through the town of Karatu in the green hills of Tanzania’s northern highlands. Presided over by the towering Ol Deani Volcano, this small, colourful town serves as a popular overnight stop for visitors exploring the area’s many game parks. Ngorongoro Farmhouse, Karatu

At a time convenient to you, you will depart from the lodge and make your way towards the Karatu area where you will visit a local school, which enjoy sometime with the ever enthusiastic pupils and teachers before driving back to your lodge for lunch. Afternoon is at leisure or option walking around coffee farm.

Day 10:

End of Itinerary

After breakfast and check out you will be drive to Arusha for lunch, after lunch you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight back home. OR after lunch in Arusha, you may decide to extend your stay to the Spice Island of Zanzibar where you will relax on the beautiful beach for couple of days, then fly back home..
